  1. I’m sorry Benoit, but this is not a creative brief. And the way it’s explained is also symptomatic of the misunderstandings when it comes what is a creative brief.

What you are explaining in great length and detail is website brief. Which is all very well. Furthermore, it’s very prescriptive in tone and graphic detail, deliverables etc. Which in essence makes it more of a production brief with clearly defined tasks. « This is what thou shalt do »And I guess it works for this purpose.

However a creative brief is something completely else, and imperative for any agency that wants to do bigger and better work. The end consumer and audience of a brief is the creative team. To arrive at an interesting conceptual platform you need to define the problem. Not the solution. Finally, you need to deliver the most pertinent insights – no more than three.
That’s it. Problem. Insight. The creative team can then get to work to deliver a creative platform.

This is by no means an easy feat, it means distilling information, research and most importantly, making decision which provides a clearly defined and condensed problem.
